If you haven't tried YakTrax's I would recommend them. Not very expensive and barely noticeable when you use them, and light weight , so could easily bring them along in a small fanny pack for the trail sections.

YakTrax are ok, not as durable or effective as Kahtoolah Microspikes, but maybe a bit lighter.

Yes, not as effective, but about half the weight, half the price, and no spikes to carry around when not in use. For 100% snow/ice traveling, definitely Katoolahs.
