at the feasibility of that venue when I looked at the calendar, as I was thinking about making an appearance at a metro event. I just assumed that due diligence had been done. Shame because it is one of the more interesting maps for course planning if the island is included.

Are the infrequently resident indigenous personnel summering there at the moment?

Yeah they're pretty much blocking use of the north side with the fireworks setup blocking the southern side. We potentially could use the northern side but I've heard not-good stories about parkrunners being harassed there, which is why they haven't run there for months, so I dare say our controls wouldn't last.

The big shame is (to my knowledge) this venue's only been used once as a Metro venue and that was five years ago so it's a poor second outing. I really enjoyed running past cyclists riding across the bridge last time we ran there! It was an added incentive to go faster.

Due diligence though? That's almost like me getting approval before setting the 6hr rogaine.

On a related note, DPaW seems to have disappeared into obscurity.

I think DPaW have their hands full and their minds on other matters at the moment - something about a public enquiry?

Haven't been following - to do with the fire? My theory is if they don't say no (or anything), then it's approved.

Yeah, I think the blow torch is about to be applied to DFES and DPaW and the way they talk (or don't talk) to each other in the analysis of the fire.

I agree - consent by silence.

Paralysis of the fire?

Well I just did a quick armchair set of this blasted event and somehow managed to put ~50% of the controls on tracks, which is a bit disappointing. I had hoped it'd be closer to 100%. Might change when I'm out there on the bike though and can't be bothered traipsing off into the bush :P

Has the newsletter come out in paper format? I wouldn't know because I don't seem to be receiving them anymore.

I just read the online version.

I went out there today. Now I have to go back out tomorrow just to hang tapes and stuff.
