Will needs to win to win, period. This would force a tie, and he'd win the 6th tiebreaker.
Peteris didn't show this week, and with Eric taking advantage (3rd), there's a distinct possibility that Eric sneaks into 3rd for the season if he snags another 3rd. It's totally doable, since Jourdan won't be racing again. Peteris is still Tier 1b, but his score isn't.
I did what I needed to do today. I inched my score up 2 points, keeping pace with Jonathan who inched his up 2 points, too. I'm now up 4-2 in the head-to-head series. For the season, I'm 6-0 against Ott, 4-0 against Matt B, 5-0 against Bruce, and 3-0 against Matt H.
However, mathematically, any of these 5 can still beat me. Matt H would need a 1st. Matt B, Bruce, or Ott would need a 2nd or better. Jonathan would need a 3rd or better.
And this is all assuming my score doesn't improve; I'd need a 5th or better to do that. And if we're talking about those guys winning, then what happens if I win? I could steal 3rd.
But realistically, I'll finish 6th, which was my goal after race #1. I probably have this already locked up, since some combination of Eric, Eric, Will, Nikolay, and Peteris will grab the top 3 spots, preventing Jonathan from sneaking by.
The women's race for the top spot is still up for grabs, too!
Heather went 1st-1st-1st, but then injured, so she's done for the season, perhaps career. This appeared to open the door for Marissa (who went 2nd-3rd-2nd when Heather was here), and she delivered with a win in race #4.
But! Rebecca has won the last two races, pulling just 1 point behind! Whichever one of these two wins next time out snags the gold. Rebecca, despite being 1 point behind, can actually lock it up with a 2nd place finish, so long as Marissa isn't 1st.
Gina is setting pretty in 3rd place at the moment. She'd only get bumped with either a win by Ing or Debbie.
I'm amazed by my consistency in Winter Series scoring this season (all between 4th place and 8th place), so I decided to look at all of my Winter Series scores (54 total) over the years. All 54 results are on this chart, with this season's placings in red.
