last year Daz and I spent a bit of time in the gym. I think he cracked 75 or 80. I could only manage six of 55.

Since the heavy hitters have not declared I'll put in my best set of 60kg, done many many years ago

I can't remember having done a bench press, but suspect I'd do well to get the bar up without any weights on the end.

David Baker:
Sounds like you need some 'nasal spray technology' with that problem Blair.

Dawayne? Is that you?
Sep 13, 2007 8:25 PM #
robw:
Dawayne doesnt do bench press, the way the bar goes straight up and down is too much like a dog leg!

sounds like daz southwell may have it for the time being....if his effort can be confirmed.

ive cracked 70 kg but have 80 in my sights.

i think i'll start a regular gym-o score event series. with a map of the inside of the gym, the aim will be to find each piece of equipment and get points for how high you can go. just like a score event there will be a time limit and the trick will be to choose which controls (exercises) you will score highest on. route choice should avoid the juice-junkies and no-neckers. maybe we could add various distances/inclines on the treadmill between controls.

any takers for next cockies training?

Gee - I was gonna keep my mouth shut coz I thought I was so puny, but I used to knock out 80kg pretty regularly back in my early uni days (about 1996-7 unfortunately)

fletch:
but then I'm not sure I really count as an orienteer at the moment... I did one weekend thi season and it's the first time since 1983 that I haven't been a member...

confirmed with my dad- he can actually orienteer. previously 11th (almost top ten) at aus champs m21E. reckons 130 easy

Grant:
I used to do 65kg, just before I broke Wazza?s arm in the arm wrestle. That was in June 1994?

Troy:
20kg (bar) + 2x5kg = gives me the grand total of 30.00kg.

hoggster:
Rock-climbers don't count morty. btw, your dad came 13th, not and 11th, and you omitted to mention his 71st 2 years earlier!

I was doing 60kg about the time of wazza's spiral fracture, after which grant & i gave up going to the gym.

I see your 30.00kg Troy and vaguely recall doing 35kg or 38kg some eons ago.

Ruth McChairbed:
morty if your dad can bench 130 then whats happened to you? must have been a recessive gene hey?
Sep 16, 2007 6:51 AM #
TheInvisibleLog:
Forget the bench press. The true mark of glory is how many one armed pull ups you can manage. My count... 0. I have seen seven by a climber.

Bomb:
about 40kg at the moment
