What kind is your compass? How did you chose it? Why do you like it? Do you use it often in orientieering? Or prefer to navigate.

At the moment, my compass is the Silva Race Jet (thumb compass).

In my very first years (80ties), I was using the other type as there was no thumb compass at that time. But quite soon after the thumb compass came into the market, I got one, and learnt to use it. I like the idea of having it very close from the map and being able to check it almost every time I read the map. It is maybe not as effective as the "old" standard when it comes to take clear direction (i.e. turning the capsule), but I also use quite much the features around to keep my directions.
