It wasn't an ingredient in the cake. This is reserved for making drinks: hot chocolate, mocha type stuff.

Did we actually imbibe a liquid form? Or did I dream it?

Come to think of it, some may have been served. The truffle cake is such as standout it can create a blur around other food for a while. Just a slice of the cake is enough sugar to last me quite a while, so I rarely have the hot chocolate with it myself.
As a hedge, I have some set aside for the next time you are over.

We usually have tea with the truffle cake but I don't have a clear recollection. I don't think I would have hot chocolate with truffle cake. That would be too much awesomeness at once.
