when we lived in Whiterock I got a call from 2 yr old Will(his mom helped him), while I was driving to work one morning. We'd been living there about 6 months and he was calling to tell me that "Daddy!! I just saw the SUN!!"
... and Whiterock gets about 100 days more sunshine than North Van :-)
... that's why I was mandated by the boss to find a house there
Ditto - I moved to Vancouver in November during residency and didn't see the sun for two months (well working a lot had something to do that too). Of course then we had a week of spring like weather in early Feb that was stunning and made me think it might all be worthwhile:)
I found out I was low on vitamin D here in Ontario despite a supplement.
You guys must be rock- bottom out there.
Big weekend of sprint orienteering coming your way in 1.5 weeks. AdventureGirl! and two other juniors from DontGetLost will be out in Van for the Vancouver Sprint Camp.
Most of the forests and parks in Van are mapped. Grad Blvd eh....as in here?
Also Lynn Valley
a few years ago we had downhill nav training intervals on that map. You started at the top and raced head to head over a 3 checkpoint (forked) course) in between each block.
So the place we're renting for the month his ON that map!
Isn't the ability to claim that you live on an O-map kind of like achieving some sort of orienteering nerdgod status?
Though it is worth noting that Phatty was living and training in the town and forests of a previous World Orienteering Champs when living in France - so he has had "Supreme Almighty O NerdGod" status for many years now.
And has a pair of trail running shoes with his name on them. Definite nerdgod status multiple times over.
Not to mention that one of the creations during my time at Salomon HQ has become a go-to o-training shoe...mega o-cred!
