We already have flights booked to and from the UK. In Scotland the week before so train was just going to take too long. Plus the UK trains looked like they would be hideously expensive.
I meant the French trains - between Montpellier and CDG for example.

Didn't think about flying to CDG. We're going to Marseille instead - just happens to be the closest we could get direct from Scotland and directly back to Manchester.
What's the issue with Qantas?
Its run by a moron and this seems to be having a trickle down effect.
Book flight, wait 2 months for e-tickets. Ring up - they say OK. Credit card debited. Credit card credited. Wait 2 months. Ring up. Wait 1 hour. They say "oh, we're run by a moron"... they rebook flights. Nothing happens. Wait 3 days. Ring up. Wait 2 hours (you can call them, be put on hold, go to school to pick up kids and cook a meal while on hold). Talk to them. Aha - wrong email address ! (why didn't they use the one from last booking or from FF membership that they asked me for)... or spot that the surname on my email was a character out... Wait 2 days. Money goes from credit card account. Money appears back in credit card account....
Thank the deities that I'm not actually flying with them.
Ouch! That's pretty unbelievable for a major airline. For Ryanair or someone like that it wouldn't be a surprise. But Qantas??
Haven't found their flights too bad, but that's only been Wellington-Sydney before continuing on with someone like Emirates, so I haven't dealt with them directly.
