Have you found the sports med docs you've seen good? I've only ever been to see two and they were both useless.
The first, ages ago, saw me for about 5 minutes and immediately gave me a prescription for expensive orthotics which threw my knees out. The second, which I went to this past spring about my achilles problem saw me for 15 minutes told me my calves were super super tight (no s**t tell my something I didn't already know)and gave me a prescription to get some ultrasound imaging which was really all I wanted from her. After all that the ultrasound showed absolutely nothing...
Now that you mention it yeah they are pretty useless. The first one I saw for my stress fracture told me I only needed to wear a fast for 2 weeks. Which after that I got reinjured because I didn't wear it long enough. The second doc I saw told me to wear the cast for 6 weeks then when I went for my follow up didn't really say much. Just said that I was okay to run again. Nothing about changing my running technique of preventing reinjury.
That being said, I still have a little faith. In seeing a different doctor next week so well as how it goes.
Good luck. I've always found the physio folk far more helpful. Then again I haven't had the misfortune of having to deal with a stress fracture.
