Come try it at Presque Isle. You have to pay attention to make sure the chip flashes. Also, don't put the SI-air chip on the same wrist as a gps watch -- it cuts the range by more than half.

...don't put the SI-air chip on the same wrist as a gps watch...

Interesting to hear - do people know that or have you just found out yourself?

I found out last year when my finish wasn't recognized at the masters skiO in Switz. Having been initially DQ'd for failing to finish, I pointed out that in order to get to the download, I had to go thru the finish. The officials agreed and checked the finish box and found my time, even though it hadn't registered on the chip.

Later email discussion revealed that if a gps device is within 6-8cm of the chip, it may interfere with the signal (I had them on the same wrist). This year in Germany there were instructions clearly warning not to have the devices on the same wrist. I had trouble getting a flash on one control where I reached across to get to an off-side box, and the chip was in fact close to my watch. Beware!
