looks like we will be up this weekend. Would love to visit the GIS lab! You have LIDAR data of the area?

OCAD imports .gpx files that are produced by most GPS watches, that much you probably know by now. While it is a linear feature, it can be easily turned into shape (areal) feature in OCAD.

I think some versions of OCAD will import .shp files. I have OCAD 8 so I have to convert .shp files to .dxf files and than import those. I use a free software called dxfAuthor to make the conversion. It is very basic and there is little explanation about using it so if you decide to go that route and are stymied, give me a shout.

Unfortunately we can't get LIDAR...oh well. I did change some of the GPS files from linear features to shape features, that process seems to work great. We're using OCAD 11 and I haven't had any major problems importing the shp. files.

Tosi hienoa! OCAD 11 on jo aika hyvä, mulla on se myös. Laita tänne sitten kuva, kun saat kampuksen kartan valmiiksi!
