So....

I'll probably be in town for this event, but must fly out of town to FL in the afternoon.

Anyone who can give me an idea of what traffic between Lake Needwood and DCA would look like on a Sunday?

I know from living in DC for a few years that you can never be sure what it'll be like, but just in case.

Alternatively, anyone willing to do a pick up/drop off at the nearest metro to the lake?

Cheers from Bishkek,
Mike

You may be able to get out before 11 if controls are out. Either my husband or I often run early if we're volunteering, and sometimes that's been as early as 10.

In general, there's enough traffic on a Sunday afternoon that we don't have our au pair, who's an inexperienced driver, drive home. However, it's not usually bad enough to rate anything more than a bit of a slowdown from Google, and I doubt it would take much longer than 45 minutes. Just check traffic before you go.

The metro's a good option, but you'll be dealing with off-peak timing, so you could wait 20 minutes to catch the red line, and then another 20 to catch the yellow line at Gallery Place.

DCA is usually a fast transition if you're TSA pre-checked.

Thanks so much for the info! Turns out I have to fly out of Dulles, but not until 1730. I'll grab a rental car from IAD and drop it off on the 13th.

Dammit...Uncle Sam changed my plans. I now have to leave DC on the 12th. Crap.
