Pretty much, and going to one it was completely open. Our vegetation changed by season and by where the park cleans it up. That makes it so that you have to play it be how it looks once you're coming up to it a lot of the time.

So vegetation mapping on Chicago-land O-maps is completely unreliable...

"by hand" = "by head"?

Just a local event, but these kind of map errors add substantial unfairness...

The only advantage locals have is knowing that there may be a vegetation change, they happen so frequently that it doesn't make it any easier for anyone else. We usually on run on a map once or twice a year so it can change from then till the next race.

I don't think that's much of a problem :)
