...with Bryce and random challenges? If he hasn't rung you up yet to smacktalk you about how he's going to destroy your time, it can only be because he doesn't have your number. :)
Feb 25, 2016 1:21 AM #
I have his number - I was hoping numbers would speak louder than words - plus I can smack talk at training on the weekend if I go.
Feb 25, 2016 2:10 AM #
This is why I don't do Strava. Attempting to set a PR going down Mount St is the definition of stupid.
Feb 25, 2016 2:23 AM #
I think we're talking about going up May, not down Mount?
Feb 25, 2016 2:26 AM #
I couldn't be bothered starting a new thread in Bryce's log.
Feb 25, 2016 2:27 AM #
I'm definitely not joining in any challenges down Mount St.
I won't be at training on the weekend either. If my body was handling running ok I wouldn't need to be looking for motivation to ride my bike.
Feb 25, 2016 2:32 AM #
irregardless of strava I go fast down mount st. its the point of going down mount st - its fun. Rest assured its not into the rhelm of stupidity - there is plenty of breaking time.

I also compete on PR's up mount st too - works both ways you know.

interestingly if I have a garmin/strava years ago when i used to be competent on the bike I wouldn't be coming close to any of my PR's inc mount st downhill. I used to do it faster on the same bike I am certain of it
Feb 25, 2016 2:55 AM #
Up is different. If your brake cable snaps or someone jumps out in front of you, you can actually stop.
Feb 25, 2016 4:46 AM #
Regardless of my difficulty in deciphering brycec's broked writing I agree that going down Mount Street fast could certainly result in plenty of breaking... and a lengthy stay in hospital. I must remember next time I come up to Perth to consign brycecs uphill puny effort on May to the realm of 'commuting pace' to demoralise him.

In fact - just checked Strava - no need, I've got 28s on him already and that's just from an easy ride up the hill being well-dropped by tRicky.
Feb 25, 2016 4:52 AM #
In that case I've probably got another big gap on that because I've done it a lot harder than that effort. Maybe I should sign up just to give him a target to achieve by 2023.
Feb 25, 2016 5:04 AM #
ricky - to bulk copy your garmin history to strava you can use

post that if you connect your strava to Garmin it will auto sync it for you.
Feb 25, 2016 5:09 AM #
think youll find its only 22s - and I will deal with that in due course - in the meantime go have a look at the opposite direction -
Feb 25, 2016 5:20 AM #
Downhill you have a weight advantage though. There's no ability involved, other than the ability to eat more.
Feb 25, 2016 5:24 AM #
counterbalanced by the fact I have more wind resistance. :P
Feb 25, 2016 5:28 AM #
incidentally ricky once you have everything transferred across I think youll like: and

Also if you use chrome there is a good strava plugin called:
StravistiX for Strava
Feb 25, 2016 5:30 AM #
once you have everything transferred across I think you'll like

I doubt it. As soon as Ori finds out I'm on Strava, I'm deleting my account.
Feb 25, 2016 5:31 AM #
just set it to private so only people you authorize can follow
Feb 25, 2016 5:36 AM #
and/or change your screen name so he doesnt realise :)
Feb 25, 2016 5:43 AM #
Yeah he'll never read AttackPoint.

You do realise I only set it up for this reason: to demoralise him (Bryce) and that I'm never looking at it again after this?
Feb 25, 2016 5:53 AM #
I don't think Bryce would get demoralised anyway. I think he'd be more motivated to do better, ride faster like tRicky. Bryce would be demoralised if a girl, particularly an old girl, smashed his Strava segments. Doubt that would happen.
Feb 25, 2016 6:03 AM #
actually there is an older, larger lady at work who is doing exactly that - keeps taking off downhill legs - has a few segments on the flat which I have only ridden once or twice and she has ridden when she used to be fit and do group rides... all the same - I need to go reclaim them...

she got 1s of forrest downhill on me this morning so I will be sorting that out before I do anything else..

re Tash's comment - you really think having a faster time will demoralize me... your totally wrong - I am way more competitive than you realize. p.s. my fastest friend on that segment is 1min30 on me - I plan on catching him at some point.
Feb 25, 2016 6:09 AM #
Yeah I figured you aren't easliy demoralised :P
Feb 25, 2016 6:18 AM #
Well in that case I'm deleting my Strava account right now. The stupid synch thing you sent me is taking its sweet time anyway so there's no point.
Feb 25, 2016 6:21 AM #
haha - it taking its time because it q's for liek 45 minutes and then given you probably have like 1000 activities a year and its syncing them all it probably will take a while.

Is it off the q phase and onto the checking garmin phase or syncing to strava?
Feb 25, 2016 6:22 AM #
I should probably start using Strava properly - it is a good motivator to beat your own PB's.
Feb 25, 2016 6:27 AM #
Feb 25, 2016 6:42 AM #
I have no intention of beating any PBs, well other than the two that I have set up in AP, and it now says it's 1% complete.
Feb 25, 2016 6:44 AM #
yeah - your activites starting to come across I saw you just flick up on my dashboard - should go pretty fast from here.

btw did you set the date to start of time or beginning of 2015?

Either way - should be good in a short while.
Feb 25, 2016 6:52 AM #
I didn't get that option.

It's now at 2% so I imagine it'll be done in another 16 hours.
Feb 25, 2016 6:57 AM #
Well I'll see you at next weeks Thursday night training then!
Feb 25, 2016 7:01 AM #
oh btw you dont need to stay on the site - you can close the screen it will continue to process in background - should have told you that earlier!
Feb 25, 2016 7:04 AM #
Don't spoil his fun - he needs something to complain about :)
Feb 25, 2016 7:06 AM #
Just saw the pics of Will on Facebook, very cute. Does he have a Strava login yet could go well in a pram race
Feb 25, 2016 7:18 AM #
haha thanks - I will just clone my gps trace for his haha.
Feb 25, 2016 7:20 AM #
Why don't you just put him in the pram at the top of Mount St with your GPS and let him go? It's about as safe as what you do.
Feb 25, 2016 7:22 AM #
counterbalanced by the fact I have more wind resistance. :P

You're banned from using that bullshit excuse after you tried to tell me that of course I was running faster because my shoes were lighter.
Feb 25, 2016 7:25 AM #
:) haha touche - you've been holding onto that one for the right opportunity haha. - reminds me at some stage I need to go run 400m again.

My mount st descent is safe - dont know why you think otherwise.
Feb 25, 2016 7:32 AM #
felt sure I had done a pr on it breaking late and pedaling the full distance

Pedaling on Mount St says it all really. I get up to 60kph without the need to pedal and consider that bad enough.
Feb 25, 2016 7:38 AM #
sorry that my extra 4.2km/hr scares you :) the pedaling gives you such little extra benefit because of the pace at which you gain speed anyway. braking 10m later makes marginal difference too - was hoping to trim 1s.
Feb 25, 2016 7:41 AM #
Why are people following me on Strava? I don't mean you and Craig because I sought you out but two other people I know have started following me despite me not telling them I was on it and it's only been an hour or so. Is there something on there that lets people know that awesome people have joined?

For Bryce
Feb 25, 2016 7:45 AM #
tRicky +1 on strava
Feb 25, 2016 7:45 AM #
Are you suggesting I dont know how to brake my bike efficiently?
Feb 25, 2016 7:46 AM #
no strava will automatically work out people you have ridden with on activities dont believe it sends them an alert saying your on it - but it will have you in their suggested friends and it will have your activities as ridden together - like you an chris.
Feb 25, 2016 7:49 AM #
I've never ridden with Richard but he found me.

I don't think anyone should follow me. You'll just end up in a crash.
Feb 25, 2016 7:52 AM #
I have Rogained with you doesn't that count?
Feb 25, 2016 7:57 AM #
Seems we are getting good strava numbers now - might have to create a segment of the week lol
Feb 25, 2016 8:00 AM #
Nah, just lurking AP is fine for my needs
Feb 25, 2016 9:03 AM #
What's the point of these segments? There are about ten different segments on Forrest Dve alone, each one shorter than the last, and that's just the uphill. Are people so distraught at not being able to get KOMs that they have to create new segments that no-one else has done before?

Someone on PerthNow some crap news website was crowing about holding the record for the sprint through where Elizabeth Quay now is (prior to it being built) because no-one will be able to beat it anymore. Hooray for you.
Feb 25, 2016 9:16 AM #
I think youll find people want to find how they are going over different sections of the hill - I dont like having all the sections either - you can just star the ones you want to track on.
Feb 25, 2016 9:20 AM #
I could but then I'd have to log in again.

I did notice one segment onto Fraser Ave some people had done in 1 second at 319kph so I'm guessing there are ways around it.
Feb 25, 2016 9:21 AM #
ill save you the hassle - go work on your mount st climb I beat you at it - that doesnt seem right.
Feb 25, 2016 1:09 PM #
That's it, I'm closing my account.
Feb 26, 2016 10:21 AM #
Looks like brycec could do with a healthy dose of Bike Snob.
Feb 26, 2016 10:48 AM #
cool story simmo.

had massive response - cbf.
Feb 26, 2016 2:25 PM #
Bryce, please formulate a response on this story (it has nothing to do with Strava)
