Knees, hams, feet, long can this go on...not the injuries but the training...longest stretch of running in awhile...improve rapidly then taper off...I need to run faster to run faster...

Usually I want to do more and more but for now this is all I have physically and mentally...I just want to be able to keep up what I am doing until it gets warmer...

If I didn't have the dogs, and a couple of friends, pestering me, I probably would never run.

Well, yeah...I could run 8 miles too if it was 71 degrees! :)

I'm not feeling guilty or apologizing...dont' forget the wind...and we have that all year long. I played golf with a guy that had lived and worked in Chicago 31 years and I asked him about the windy city...he laughed and said that it was for the politicians not the wind...that it was not even close...Oklahoma's wind was much stronger...etc etc..

The wind did affect me...but it was still a nice run...

I am surprised about the comment on never running...for years it was always my right leg...thigh and ham and foot and now it's more left leg knee and ham...but my right arm is lame in certain positions. So on one hand after running 4, 5 and 8 the past 3 days you can't help being amazed you/me can do it but then it's like run to run...step to step...never know when it might all end...that stupid fall could have gone totally wrong and I busted something badly...I really am having to take my life in my hands on crossing roads and getting through the side entrances without someone turning in or out and making me a big splatter mark on the street and or their front bumper...

I was looking back to make sure it was safe to cross the road this morning...4 lanes...saw the on coming traffic way up the road 1/3 of mile or so...looked back one more time as I had a bad one there...was crossing and looked up the road and the cars were way closer than I expected and I had to put on a power of those might blow out 4 or 5 knees and a hip and ham all at power burst.

Keep going and encouraging me...and I'll do the same on my end. All we can do is what we can do...if it's back to walking and shuffling which someday it will be if I'm lucky enough to stay upright then so be it....

If you look at the log of my friend Hardcore, you'll see how I gain some encouragement. He is almost 70, and was chronically injured for like8-12 years. Then, just 2 years ago, he felt better and started training harder. He's a minute faster than me in the marathon, in his prime, and we have somewhat parallel "careers."
It's inspiring to see him train hard like we used to, at his age.

Holy moly 6 more years and I'll be 'well' again...I guess that would put me on about same age track as him...maybe a year or two younger when I hit my next 'second wind' or should I say 'last wind'....I have had a long stretch for me now but without speed work...I've topped off...only reason running quicker is warmer weather...

I was watching his and other logs for a long time but I gave was intimidating at times and frustrating...not that I did not get inspired etc but if you go out and get hurt within the month what good did the inspiration turn out to be...

I guess that would be Harry Cottrell I looked him up at least once...

Sorry to disappoint you but I voted for Cruz...I did wonder if you would notice the dems voted for him. We won't agree on politics so I'll not say anything else...ha.

This is by far the nicest winter in 23 years...I did drive to Enid (remember you stopped off there and saw me and Chrissy in 84) about 3 weeks ago and wind gusts of 50mph made it a white knuckle day then...sitting in my car writing estimate the wind was rocking the car at times...but overall even the wind has not been bad this winter...

I do not enjoy winter at all...don't mind a good snow storm and winter around Christmas but that's had been staying very cold (cooler than this) into late April which was very discouraging...even May and early June had been cooler although that was ok it just meant no 95 to 100 days...usually we have some nice weather but then you get some really super cold weather and that has not really happened much this leg muscles just do not respond well to the cold even bundled up now...too tight...
