on your progress. Commiserations re thumb - your luck from 2015 continues. At least the cast thing sounds like you will be able to run. Enjoy skiing - sounds so amazing and foreign while we shelter from the heat.

Yeah, the thumb is a real bummer. Not that bad a crash - the front wheel slipped out - but I was going quite fast and landed awkwardly and smashed the thumb and ripped the cartilage around my rib cage (which is actually the more painful of the injuries. Was very lucky to have got the thumb seen to very quickly. We have a specailist hand and arm hospital just down the road where I went last year with my broken fingers from the mtb spill. They attended to the surgery straight away and arranged for a custom-made splint. Looks like I can run as soon as the ribs settle down and I will also get the bike set up on the turbo trainer.

The skiing is great fun, although obviously restricted in my ambition. All very exotic and European. I am not a great skier but enjoy nonetheless. Freya has taken t it very nicely and is progresisng very quickly in the ski school. I thought that cycling was full of gear freaks, but alpine skiing takes the gear thing to a whole new level!

Glad (and surprised!) you can ski with the thumb. And I could imagine skiing is at another level. Ribs not settled yet for running but it could end up being a kick along for your running!
