It's definitely a great idea to start doing some general strength training. That's what will prevent you from getting injured again, improve your running form, and make you a lot stronger towards the end of the race. Anyways, keep it up :D

If you want any general strength workouts just let me know, all of the lower body, upper body, core, and yoga workouts I've been doing has been to keep from being injured to allow for a focus on orienteering skills. I did it initially with the goal of preventing injury in mind, but recently I've seen a gigantic increase in my energy and massive improvement in my form, so I can vouch that my general strength workouts are making some awesome results :D
