Once upon a time, my phone number was the one listed for Bureau "climate enquiries" in the phone book. Perhaps my most bizarre experience was dealing with a person who was convinced that the world was going to end on the 6/6/06 and that it was the Bureau of Meteorology's responsibility to warn the Australian people about this.
I marked the occasion of this date by leading a club run (at night) through the Warringal cemetery....
Even for those who aren't keen on cemeteries, the little pioneer cemetery in Wirrabara forest (yes, it's on the O map), with the headstones made out of timber slabs because wood was more easily available than stone in the late 1800s, is rather fascinating. I hope it survived the fire in January 2014.
