not to subtract from the self-flagellation . . . haha . . . but a couple points, 1) it's early season and 2) didn't seem like you really peaked and tapered for this race but sorta came up mid-training cycle. you're only a couple seconds off your season best of last year so I wouldn't beat up yourself too bad. seems like you are set for a PR this summer when the season peaks.

I guess just keep an eye on the bronchitis, could be some sort of bug picked up while traveling. don't think you had it last summer.

Good points. I've realized that almost all my good races have been road and trail, and every one of my track races have not been up to my potential. Mental adjustment mostly, I think. You on the other hand seem to thrive on track.

Isn't easy to come off the boil for a variety of reasons- good news is that you know what it takes and have the tools to adapt. Onwards- run fast, turn left!
