I think the error is with the printers here, exclusively.

Do you check every single map to make sure each control is in the right place? No, that would be ludicrous. You might check 1 or 2. The printers' quality control is at fault here.

When you pay for a service from a professional company, you shouldn't have to check they're done what they said they would do. I hope that SWOC will be able to claim compensation back from the printers. And that they pass that on to the affected guys, who not only lost their runs but also fuel costs, the opportunity cost of whatever else they were doing that day., etc etc

I think the controller should check each map is printed OK if its a big event, just for obvious things - colours missing, BEING BLANK. Can just flick though them like a deck of cards.

Anyway, this reminds me of my club-mate Jo, who was helping at an event I'd planned. She started a bit late and came steaming back to the finish "Andy, Andy, there are no maps left at the map exchange !"
"Turn your map over Jo !"

Now we always get her to man the "map exchange" if we print double-sided.

I agree with Undy. I have already apologised to Pete, and he will be getting his money back.
