I have always wanted to go out for this. How was the footing, any snow or mud?
A pretty good tour of the quasi-winter woods? I say quasi but don't have any idea of conditions. Did it 3 times: once w/o need for any particular footware, another with skis the entire time and the third, I think some snowshoes and skis.
Recall that last drive home - some 40 mi south to Syracuse, stop for gas and snack, then nonstop 400 mi east to home...too far. You are nearly 3 hrs closer. It is a nice event in any event.
The footing was terrific overall; yeah, one could find some wet, muddy spots, but they could be avoided without much effort. I never got my feet wet, although Frank did on the second day.
Fortunately, this year's location was not as far west as normal--from my house to the event site could be done in less than 2 1/2 hours.
