...on your first O Cup Series win!
Thanks. Noah is the real series winner. We tied in points, but he won 3 races which is very impressive. I'm happy to be running close to these younger, faster racers.
That was an old rule no longer in use. You guys tied and are both winners!
He'll be even harder to keep up with next year. I think Courtney mentioned that he has another year at that handicap. More motivation to get running. :)
I really enjoy the OCUP series. I learned to orienteer at these events when i had no idea what i was doing. Hopefully participation improves next year. It seemed that the numbers were a bit low this year.
They were, which is really disappointing. OOA invested in Facebook advertising but we didn't see many new faces. Lots to think about for next year's series.
Overall the numbers were up as we had 1 more event with the STARS having two events with approximately 230 participants in 6 events for 2016 vs 211 in 5 events in 2015 - but yes - the average would be down; from about 42 per race in 2015 to 38 in 2016.
Number of unique racers 113 racers in 2015, 106 in 2016 also down. Despite FB adverts :(
And that's compared with 149 unique racers in the 2012/13 season. The races were really good this year, too!
We had two racers at our OCUP who had never done an o-race and came because of the Facebook advertising campaign, but it is hard to say if the advertising was worth it. Hopefully we get more racers next year.
