For the mispunch. Your leg problems seem to be featuring more and more of late too :-( I'll venture to the park run next Saturday maybe, so you can have someone you can be sure to beat!

I have had three finishes, one mispunch and one retiral so far this year so a 60% success rate - much better than last year!

It was my fault - not an equipment failure.

I was looking for the bit of rock on the end of the spur, and punched at another bit of rock on the end of another spur. They moved our control to behind the spur to "avoid confusion" and didn't recentre the circle. The controller kindly sought me out afterward to explain/apologise.
Good warning ahead of the big races in England that every feature will have a control on it. Annoying thing was that I was using the control descriptions in the wood (couldn't read the map) but on the moor it was all very clear, so seemed unnecessary.
We live and (fail to) learn.

Running the US Champs in CA next weekend :), so I'll designate James to race you at the park run.

It was a bit odd that your course was so similar to ours. I thought that we would have two totally different courses, but instead had a bit of a merry band of men around the moor bit.

Lucky you: the men I saw were Scotia and Nixon, neither of whom hung around long enough to partake in any merriment with me.
