It seems your event was well timed!!

Maybe that was the storms that BOM was predicting and never came?

You not only got the good tracks, Richard, but you missed all the rain too. :)

It did rain a little while I was collecting controls but I was in the car then

I seem to have also avoided the thunderstorms the BOM was forecasting for today too.

had some drops while collecting control points, but not too bad

Looks like all the action was further south - Mandurah seems to have been about the northern limit of the rain, with 35mm at Collie.

Yup, been raining solidly down here on what used to be called the Rainbow Coast most of the night and all morning so far. Good for the nearly empty water tank - we'll have managed not to use mains water all summer! Juffy might have to bring a raincoat for his week of mapping in glorious autumnal weather.

What will it be called tomorrow?

South Coast? I think it's still the Rainbow Coast, but with so much less rain than there used to be through summer the rainbows aren't as common any more. Plus perhaps being a highly-conservative community of elderly and God-fearing folk maybe that rainbow promotion is not their preferred moniker?
Mar 23, 2016 1:41 PM #
Surely old and conservative God-fearing folk would only think of the rainbow as God's promise never to flood the whole Earth again??

I seem to recall a program called Sing Me a Rainbow from the '80s that was distinctly religious in nature.

American television also had Color me a Rainbow from a bit later in the same decade that was aired on the Christian Television Network although that only seems to have lasted for 13 episodes so maybe the religious folk took offence and had it cancelled.

Maybe they're worried about an influx of South Africans?
