so, if the husband was happy to know that the ranger got to take the dog, and, if I understand correctly, if that didn't happen, you would/could have adopted that golden retriever, I am guessing

1. women love dogs
2. men don't love dogs as much as women

Just speculating with looking at a data sample of .... one.

If you added me as a data point, you'd get the opposite. I'd feel bad and maybe call someone to pick up the dog, but there is zero chance that I would bring home a stray. Dogs are way too much of a time suck and take away a lot of your freedom.

Not if you take them with you! Trail dogs are the best.

I took my parents' dog for 3 weeks while they were on vacation one time. I loved her, but by the end of the 3 weeks I resented the fact that I had to go home and let her out and couldn't leave directly from work to go do things. It's not for everybody.

I'm still thinking about that dog. I'm fortunate that I have a great trail dog already!
