for paddle-O. Spent many weekends down there in my childhood. Will teams be required to stay with their boats for the non-foot sections?

No planned restrictions on leaving boats, as long as teams stay together!

Don't remember the woods enough to determine runnability but have to think leaving the boats for long periods of time might be the best option. Do you think this strategy will be competitive?

You'll have to wait until you see the maps :)

Expected time allowed to complete this event?

We're still trying to figure out the appropriate window, but we'll have that published shortly. If it helps in your planning, it'll be an early start because of the boat guys we're working with.

Its easier to justify the trip if it's longer, not trying to pursuade you or anything... Is there any water in this place in June or is it an estuary?

We're going to list the race as 8-10 hours. We expect most teams to be out for a substantial part of that - it's not a course where the winners will finish in half the time.
