Cross-country race? I think you underestimate Kilnsey (as did most people whilst out watching!).

I must admit the mixture of Wass (grotfest) and Kilnsey and the v long drives between all the areas made me look for alternative options this year. Shame.

I was referring to the cross country pace I'd need to go at at Kilnsey, Andy. I know it's still a good technical challenge. Even more so because of the superfast underfoot conditions. Better to save myself for my club's benefit the next day.

Aaah. Understand now! Yes, you guys did do rather well! Looks like resting up paid off - well done on the medal! I had a fab day collecting the last of the controls in off the high ridge - very windy but clear except for one hail squall that this time only lasted 10 minutes. If only.....! Not surprised GG et al retired - even that was grim and I was in full mountain kit.

Yep, unlucky with the weather. A great area and it was worth the risk of holding it. I agree with Oli though - we perhaps should take more responsibility for ourselves and carry a bumbag full of decent kit like fell runners are expected to do - that way the elites wouldn't have been able to make any excuses! ;-)
