What about southern route 8-9, avoiding a lot of the climb? Just a thought.
If the gate just north of the wall junction had not been overprinted with the purple I would of considered that way. In practice the annoying thing with that leg is that the crossing point at the top is in the wrong place so going north of the pazment was going around 3 sides of it.

Yes, sorry for that crossing point - we couldn't use the original postion at the last minute. Tried to minimise problem and make it clear with tape and arrows (which I was doing at 8 in the morning!). Moved about 10-15m to the south.
As for the gate to the north of the junction - it's actually a sheep through firmly blocked with a chained down pallet, and there were sheep in the field you were leaving. It's one reason why we used stiles even when gates were sometimes available.
