Sounds like i was lucky to miss the worst of it
Well done on completing - I was down in the arena by then and it was bad enough then. I've only had one experience up there in the last year that was as bad as that, and it wasn't anything like as violent, just sustained. The weather was always my worst fear. Ironically, every other daylight hour between Tuesday morning and yesterday afternoon was no problem, with just one dose of heavy rain (but copeable) on Saturday late afternoon
Crossing point was an annoying situation that cropped up at the last minute. Only consolation was that, whilst it was meant to be a route choice leg, actually by far the most people went over the top, and so pretty much everybody was caught the same way, so little time loss vs other people. Tried to make the change obvious with tapes and arrows, but I know that wasn't totally satisfactory. So a big sorry for that.
Spur - You were lucky. It was character building and makes me more willing to carry a cagoule if there's a danger of that type of weather happening again.
Andy - Thanks for your comments and for all your efforts in planning the day. The weather was unfortunate but at least competitors were wearing / carrying cagoules. I suspect if this rule hadn't been forced on competitors there would have been a few cases of exposure or worse when the storm hit.
The crossing point issue was small and not worth bothering about. At the most I lost 10 seconds. I don't know what was going on on the Saturday at Wass re the crossing point(s) there.
These were the only two (very, very) minor issues in an excellent JK. It has to have been one of the best organised JK's I've been to over the years.
Thank you. Hope to get back into some running again now. Will have to be grass/road to start with as can't hack terrain yet, but aiming to be at Livingston for the day to help kickstart things. I've revised my views on cags too!
