Does your company have leave-without-pay?

Perhaps you can talk with your boss about taking time off without pay for something special like WOC?

Perhaps you should have a talk your boss and ask them to give you extra vacation as a way of supporting your commitment to pursuing an extremely high-level of [anything] on top of a full-time job.

Honestly, how could a company possibly say no to supporting something like that?

You're an athlete that has trained hard.
You should go into the TT with the mind-set that you'll make WOC and then need to do the Boston Camp to perform your best the rest of the season.
There's other ways to make things happen (ie what Patrick mentioned with expenses helped by fundraising. I hear you run for one of the leading clubs in the states).
Don't plan upfront for a poor TT performance.

Time off without pay

For example, I used this for our honeymoon. My boss was totally fine with it because it was a special circumstance (which it was, this was the only time in my 10 years there that I used it), and because I also justified it by already working that many hours of paid overtime that year.

I hear you run for one of the leading clubs in the states

According to all of the results I keep seeing, you run for a defunct club that no longer has any money!

Don't plan upfront for a poor TT performance.

I think it'll be a great performance. Your prep for the Sprint will be amazing (and J and I can help you). Your recent Long results are impressive, so that race will be solid. The make-or-break race will be the Middle, and it's good that it's last, because you can either run a little bit conservative if you already have two excellent scores, or you can go aggressive if you absolutely need to, and you're capable of stringing together a great Middle.

Speaking of Sprint prep, do we know where the Sprint will be?

Here, "permit pending" (as of January):

I might be able to finagle unpaid time, but would prefer not to - not because of the $, just because it's obviously not a great look. The good news is I just did all the maths and I would only need an extra day or maybe two at most come September (for Classic Champs/NAOC). So I think everything will be okay.

Appreciate the good advice and kind words!

Let's all plan some practice sprint courses on that map!

Hmm who would have the fastest 400m time?

Sprint location is still unfinalized. Don't assume anything yet.

If it's anything like my former workplace, orienteering (and even WOC/WMTBOC) is meaningless. I still took unpaid leave though.
