Congrats on your effort at Barkley. Did you get to spend about 30 hours out? I hope you enjoyed aspects of it. Looking forward to hearing stories. It was fun to follow the event on twitter.

Yessir :), about 30 hours out. Actully pretty disapointed, but enjoyed every minute of it.

Some wrong descriptions and book 5 positioning, made me not able to find book 5 and with it the 36hour/3 lops and the fun run 40hour/3 loops timelines, so I decided to stay out there and find the book anyway. Hours passed I did not find it, then went back and decided to learn the area and the roads along Stallion Mountain at least to know for the future. I did not find the book eventually spend about 10 hours on stallion mountain and finally took my way to Quitters Road.

Physically I felt good, my pacing was much more conservative than two years ago. 3 laps was a very good possibility. For 5 not sure :) those hills are monsters coming nonstop one after the other.

I thought as a good navigator, I could shortcut the need to learn the course either by trial and error or by following veterans. Two years ago following veterans a bit too fast for me did not end well by me bonking hard on loop 2. This year trying by myself got tripped again. At least now I know the course, I am my own Veteran. Will have to go back out there again :)

10 hours on a mountain! That's so crazy! And you didn't get a chance in that time to see other competitors find the damned book. I'm glad you had the "next time" mentality, and used it to prepare for another attempt. I'm also very glad to hear you enjoyed every minute. What a challenge. It's why we do it. High five, despite the disappointment. Thanks for sharing
