keeps getting better, eh.very cool. I think he'll do very well in college.
the UCSC coach made an interesting observation . . . this is a school with a strong tradition of club sports and a good deal of opposition to NCAA sports in general. this is the first year in nearly 50 year school history that the school has had a D3 mens track team. ! that's pretty incredible. well, the current chancelor wants to pull the plug on ALL NCAA sports which currently budget $1.4M per year, next closest UC school spends $9M per year. so they are on a shoestring already. anyway, the observed that the students in XC (mens XC for past 5 years) actually do better in school because the training regime, 7:30am workouts, provides a framework within which to study, can't stay up till 3am playing video games or partying and expect to run at 7:30am every day. and provides a community of support for friendship and study. now, just to convince the chancelor of the benefit of sports to the whole person.
