Maybe it's a more immediate release kind of thing going on. So, what about doing a little foam rolling before any run this week? Sort of like a dynamic warmup.
Rolling my quad seems to moderate a lot of other problems these days, with pretty much immediate if temporary relief to my knee, hip and back.
I do love my foam roller. I don't know how I lived to long without it!
Consistency is the key, even with foam rolling...not that I would know.

oh, that looks nice :) I've seen people tape two tennis balls together for a more low tech version of that. I mostly use my foam roller for my glutes and hips, so it works well. It's harder to roll my hamstrings on it though.
Mine is definitely an upgrade for glute rolling, really good for quads and hips, too.
Interesting, I'll have to watch for that. I use a baseball for hips and glutes - it travels really well. Not so good for legs, though.
