Is it torn or just really sore ?

I got a really sore achilles near the end of an event a few years ago, but no tear. Think it was week or two before something I wanted to do well at. Physio (Paula) just gave me 1 (maybe 2) stretches, and I was hot to trot.

Hi not sore at all, this seems an atypical injury / issue. It's not "sore", it's stabbing knife-like short sharp agony on some steps, eg when pushing off on heel after stopping, or walking up steep stairs. Then the stab goes but not before I've usually yelped in pain. I yelped during my 2nd place in Midland champs, & also at Welsh champs - that was bad.....

I had "sore" proper tendonits in 2013 & (even worse) in 2014 - caused by the hot dry weather those springs/summers - hard ground everywhere - achilles sore to squeeze it, sore on first step out of bed each morning etc. so I know it's nothing like that - other foot, too.

This isn't that. I think it's either a tear at the insertion point, calcification around there, or inflammation at insertion point but NOT of the actual tendon.

I'm quite desperate now.
