Looking at my phone at 5am wondering if you were in and forgot to message or were lying on the side of a hill.
I fell asleep trying to decide!
Might be an option for live tracking via the phone for these solo efforts?
Anyway, well done and good to see confidence in the compass.
Cheers. I half thought about a little nap around 4am. I had been awake 23hrs and was starting to stumble about. At one point it took me a few minutes to remember the name of the mountain I was on! Even though the Step is a straight road climb I still used the compass to relate to the map for practice. There was a small little single track on the Sliabh Felim way that I had to use the altimeter to find. I think I have now finally completed the Beast14 route! Lot of trails turning and branching off the way. I need all the practice I can get for ITERA. Ideally will find someone to share the Nav as we did last year.
The cloud suddenly closing in and everything vanishing was oh too reminiscent. Hence the decision for lower ground route out!
That's a nice little trek you did there and you weren't slouching around either! Putting me to shame!!!
I think it may be faster than the mountain marathon in 2014! With twice the climbing
