There's no good substitute for miles, but the thing that comes closest is a willingness to take it out easy. You've always been good about that (even when I tried to force you to do otherwise). I think you'll be alright.
"Getting those out of the way" -- yes, I like that!! It's amazing how much your brain can influence your body. At the exact moment I realized my ride was cut significantly short, my attitude went in the pit and performance took a nosedive. Lots of negativity -- the 'ol "you have failed at training, you should withdraw from DK, you're too old and slow for this anyway" shtick. Sheesh. The drama.
Good to remember the importance of pacing and not getting caught up in opening miles fervor. Great advice.
