"At the moment, my compass is the Silva Race Jet (thumb compass).

In my very first years (80ties), I was using the other type as there was no thumb compass at that time. But quite soon after the thumb compass came into the market, I got one, and learnt to use it. I like the idea of having it very close from the map and being able to check it almost every time I read the map. It is maybe not as effective as the "old" standard when it comes to take clear direction (i.e. turning the capsule), but I also use quite much the features around to keep my directions."
