Ha--that is dead on, Charlie! (appt time being a mere suggestion)
Lyn had the same experience. An appointment to check out her leg ache, but mainly for a script for a PT. 1/2 hour wait and a trainee saw her and took notes. Another 1/2 hour and doc finally shows. Pokes, prods and gives her the required but no definitive idea of the problem.
OTH I developed a very sore ear the morning we were headed to the NEOC A meet. I went to the new emergency care facility not far from here unannounced. Filled in a form, into an exam room, a pre-nurse did the Blood pressure, temp, initial notes. Another Nurse came in, looked in. Yep. Waxed. Squirted water in and a chunk of wax came out. A doc came in. Confirmed wax, saw red deep in the ear. Infected, we'll give you a prescription. Thanks for coming. Out of there in 20 minutes total. I got the pills, but after reading the warnings and possible side affects - like don't do anything active, avoid sunshine, you may die - never took any. Wait and see if it gets sore.
Of course, have no idea of the price of either of these services and won't know for a month or so. Don't think either provider could have estimated it. Have to wait for CMS to do their magic denials.
