The shoulder is recovering well. I was able to ride the rest of that day but it hurt that night and the next day. Getting noticeably better everyday and didn't really notice it when we rode today. Thanks for the concern :)
For my first road bike crash ever, it wasn't that startling to go down on the pavement, but I think that is because I have experienced that a lot during all of the amateur motorcycle racing I used to do, so it wasn't unfamilair at all to suddenly be on the pavement (but the fall from a road bike was from higher up with a bigger thud, with the feet still clipped in, versus motorcycle racing where you probably already have a knee on the ground and the rest of your body is quite low (and you have much heavier gear on, with padding and armour in the right places)
