Sounds like the new 'bent has some nice advantages, and maybe the rest of the handling will improve once you get used to it.

Yup, it's cruising the flowy singletrack like something from Star Wars now.
Physics means it's a tight squeeze around a couple of hairpins, probably no matter how experienced the pilot is, but it's a fun ride.
Those were very tight on the other bike too, but the 29ers just add a touch too much length.
