and despite the jokes on my AP Log, I definitely saw Cougar tracks on my Saturday MTB ride. Little unnerving but I am guessing they are going to run away when they hear humans.

They'll run away from tall guys, anyway. Smaller women (do we know any?) may need to wear Hokas to look bigger!

May not be sooo afraid of people

A friend of mine watched a big Cougar track him all the way to the base of his tree stand in Midhurst. He's a BIG (250Lbs?), FIT 'dude' (and a firefighter too ladies... just trying to paint the complete picture :-) )
He was Very afraid. He loaded his bow and was going to let fly if the cat looked up at him, but for some reason it never did... I guess they don't hunt people in trees?
around 2010 I think it was.

Uh oh... There was a summer when a cougar kept being spotted around Palgrave. I spoke with MNR about it and they said we should be fine if we didn't run or bike. :(

Do they eat coyotes?

My fears have come true no more running alone!

A small number of them have been around for years - busily avoiding you! This is just scientific proof that they're here.

Yes, they eat coyotes but deer are more filling.

Runners are the tastiest tho...

This thread is Mrsgally's worst nightmare...
May 4, 2016 2:35 PM #
I suggest Mrs Gally carries several big bags of Catnip when she runs... very effective on cougars as well as housecats.

Mrs. Gally is not nearly as filling as FB!

Lol hockley tommorrow I'll keep my cat eyes out

For a long time, the Ontario Puma Foundation has believed that a cougar lives in Hockley Valley.

I am making sure I lead our run tommorrow (:
May 4, 2016 6:39 PM #
There is never any question about who will be last in line on our runs. ;(

Mrs. Gally is not nearly as filling as FB! ... nor as 'well marbled'
May 4, 2016 9:29 PM #
Nor as "marinated".

I'm not the one who hides coolers of beer along the anticipated Wilderness Traverse course!

I just spent the last two days outside for several hours near Parry Sound. Black flies are out and buzzing but not biting. No need for a bug hat at the moment. But I anticipate they will be biting by early next week. Quite dry just north of Parry Sound. ATV trails I was on would be great for MTB at the moment.
