And here Is a great article on our weekend. A very nice summary of our sport's rock stars!

Hey, that really is a nice article! One of the best ones I've seen about orienteering in the States!

I like this quote:

"This sport is huge in Europe. It's what basketball is to the U.S.," said Rick DeWitt. ... "To be the world champion is to be Michael Jordan."

and another, very cute sentence (do you need to be a philosophy professor to understand this idea fully?):

"A straight line is not usually the optimum route," said DeWitt, a philosophy professor at Fairfield University.

j-man:
But is it the case that some line, straight or otherwise, must be the optimum route?

BTW, I think both Peter G. & Joe B. (as well as other workers) deserve some serious appreciation for a very well done weekend. The Sprint Finals were great fun, and amazingly spectator friendly (even as a racer/spectator :), and the Relays were similarly amazingly spectator friendly. Add to that a speaker system and running commentary on both events from PG and it made for a very exciting weekend. I don't think I've ever seen Ross or John F. as nervous/excited as they were at the mass starting line of the Sprint finals :)

All of the sprint and relays results (in some cases with improved formatting, and for the relays, with places for eligible teams as well as overall) are now on the WCOC web site.

Another big thanks to the WCOC and additional organizers for a great meet. I though both course setters did a great job creating courses that were both fun to run and exciting to watch! Can we do it again next month? ;-)

What is all of the listed splits? Combinations of all the people on the team and then single courses as well?

Wow--Ross really gave 110% in Sprint 2!

Thanks to WCOC, the Sprint Series organization, and the free agents who did the work to produce such an excellent weekend of racing!

Heh, I thought that was going to be a picture of him puking :) He did totally trounce us though.

No not puking, that would get a slightly lower rating. At 101%he would have died right after the finish punch but before the download punch.

I thought that Ross' run in relay was even more impressive!

Both Ross and Wyatt. I'm still having nightmares about seeing them come out of the woods before Sergei. Team trials next year are going to be really interesting :)

The Results link is *finally* up on the USOF site (Results page). I guess my web gremlins were more stubborn than WCOC's (they got their links updated on Tuesday).
