Ha ha!
Car rental to get out there by 7:30am Saturday morning...$60
Gas for car after 85 miles.....$12
Registration for race.......$40

But after the race I stopped in to a couple nurseries to pick up $300 worth of spring plants for my properties. So total cost of the morning was over $400!

Hope it was not a gas guzzleing car!! But $12 for 85 miles.....

Smallest car they had. And I bought the gas in the City before returning the car. City gas tax is high. But still.... I think the car must not have had a full tank when I picked it up.

Results were finally posted: took Second Place in my age group. Gettin' a trophy! And more CARA Circuit race points than ever before. So a worthwhile effort on several levels!

Which proves Woody Allen's philosophy of Life: "Eighty percent of Success is just showing up."

chitownclark: first podium finish for a CARA Circuit race. But I was still running when they were handing out the trophies. So no podium; no trophy. And the only thing I took home were the CARA circuit points.

Too bad. The trophy would have looked good alongside my only other trophy: a first-place finish in the 1999 Crystal Lake 5k race I did with you, when I was running in the 55-59 age group: 23:32! Those were the days!

They should get that to you someday. I remember that race too!
