You didn't have to go up/down any of the places where ladders had been roped to the cliff?
(Also, soft drink seems an odd recommendation in a carbo-loading context because it's such a quick-acting source of energy and the sugar isn't stored...how is that meant to work?)

Thanks! I'm still struggling to walk, my legs are so sore! Luckily the rope ladders were only on the 100km course - I saw photos of them and I think they would've been a bit scary.

No idea about the science of the carbo loading, other than it was the sports dietician's advice! Ate lots of white bread, pasta, mashed potatoes as well as jam, jelly, honey, soft drink and sports drink - I think you just load it up and the excess gets stored in your muscles.... don't really know, but it seems to work! I was pretty glad to get back to some 'normal' food yesterday.
