Now that's how you do it! You had a ton of fun training, put away the GPS for the run, and sounds like you enjoyed the whole deal! Great result was a bonus. I envy your ability to feel so good and race so hard.
We had conditions like that at Lookout Mountain 80k, and I think it favours us after all our training on trails in dicey conditions in winter and spring.
You are right, the snow and ice and even crawling over ice storm debris makes you ready for anything, plus my new habit of heading off trail helps. The harder the better. Slow and steady, not killin it like a speedster like you. Likely do Halibuton 50 mile in September with something long and new between now and then.
