OCAD 11.5.6.2031 Course Setting
Trying to open an ocd file which I am assured is a background map.
Start OCAD with no default project.
File->New and take the defaults.
Background Map->Open
Select the file with the file dialog.
Take the defaults in the Background Map (Geo-Referenced) dialog. (Also fails if I select Existing Offset and Angle.)
Error popup: Internal error: LayoutImageObjects.LoadAllLayoutImages

Any ideas ?

Try closing any program that is taking a lot of memory, like a browser with a lot of tabs, or QGIS with a lot of raster images loaded. I've had that exact error, I believe, and memory was the problem.

They say that memory is the first thing to go as you get older.

Thanks for that suggestion. I am pretty sure this is not my problem because my laptop has 3.25 GB and I don't have much more than the default installed set of applications starting at startup. I use this PC only for OCAD; everything else is on a Mac.

I have two other ideas pending from an email via this post and from a local prompted by the guy who gave me the map.

This was fixed by the background map provider doing something with it and (probably the fix was) also providing a jpg logo referenced by the background map. I can now Open it without error.
