Not surprising really. It's dual carriageway for all bar the last 30 minutes from Exeter (and possibly beyond) to Deeside. Come again!

It took me a lot more than 30 mins to hit a dual carriageway!
And the road on the south side of Glen Shee can hardly be described as smooth. I bottomed out my suspension a couple of times. Overall though the journey home was pretty good. I was home by 1930.

Fair comment but I didn't actually say to Balmoral :-) Its about 30 minutes - maybe 35 from the A90 turnoff going over Cairn O'Mount to Banchory via Fettercairn....and on the same road you actually pass through Glen Dye, one of Deesides many good areas. Via the same hill route its much the same time to day2 &3 assembly of next years RD17 at Balfour and Birsemore.

I know it well. My sister lives at Glensaugh, at the bottom of the Cairn o Mount road. Not on the way home from Balmoral though...
BTW she has a holiday let sleeping 5 still available for the 6 days.

Mark Two:
It's not the roads that are the problem usually, more the traffc and hold ups on the M6. Mind you now that Alice has at last moved to a 4 day week, I am hoping that the godawful Friday night stop/start/crawl is a thing of the past for us.
