If set at 100-105 for the men and 80-85 for the women as per WOC long trial recommendations, then I thought the courses were about right.
(Wasn't it rather that the long WC race was in fact a bit short, for the men at least - with a 78 min winning time compared to the women's 73?)
The long WC race was definitely too short.
I'm not critical of the length on Sunday - was just a little surprised by the time given the distance. It's a reminder to setters that previous kilometre rates on an area aren't always the most reliable guide - you need to look at where the course goes.
... or have the good fortune to have a visiting German WOC team member test run the courses for you.
300 NOL races would be an achievement Blair.... Anyone else close to you? Jim?
Suspect Jim would be closest - the last time anyone did a semi-systematic count he was about 13 behind me. Ecmo used to have the greatest number of career points. (I'm getting pretty close to having all the results entered in a standardised format - it's been my something-to-do-on-a-plane job for about the last 18 months - which once done will facilitate somebody being able to do those calculations systematically).
How would you account for the change in point formats in the career total? I remember Bruce had a list a while ago?
