If you aren't either wishing for, or immediately expecting, your own death at 3.5k you've done it wrong and will be running soccer fields on Monday.
I knew I could count on you!
Since I have no top end speed right now, I expect my 5k pb will be easy to top in future if I ever do a second one. I won't be begging for the grim reaper by 3k, just watching the birdies and flowers.
This isn't a trail race; there won't be anything to watch except my back, haha!
Love the confidence approach, I'm going to use it too
Make sure you're tasting blood by the end!
I raced a few times with a guy who used to race 5 kms competitively. He'd tell you if you take 15 mins you're doing it wrong!!
... but he also told me he quit doing it because he felt is was the most unhealthy thing he could do to his body and he didn't want to die running a stooopid race...
I'd go with the birdie and flower watching approach
Good thing you kept today's training under 4 hours, and under a Km of climb.. Otherwise it might have adversely affected your PR attempt tomorrow on the 5K!
Yes, I think I read that somewhere... Never run more than 4 hours the day before a 5K race. :) I'm looking forward to my PB - assuming I finish, which for once is almost assured.
Oh, I just read this! Yay, PB! :-)
Aren't 5K races fun?
For someone speedy like you, they would be! And they sure are simple to prepare for. Will I need water? Nope. Snacks? Of course not. Extra layer in case it gets cold? Don't be ridiculous. So all I need is the car key? Heck, maybe I'll just carry it in my hand. I'll only be out there for a little while. (I did end up wearing a waist pack just to carry the key.)
heck, just leave the car idling.... You'll be back soon enough :)
Exactly! No sense putting money in the parking meter either.
