Many years ago PG had a bad cough and very sore throat. His doctor said that the cough was causing acid reflux and that was causing the sore throat. That would fit with your heartburn. He got better when he did his best not to cough. Maybe you should take a little time off from running to reduce your cough?

Hm, sounds about right! My cough has developed into (yet another) different kind of cough. A lot throat-y-er and maybe a little more in the chest. Resting would definitely be the best, but i'm going to racing in the Boston Sprint Camp this weekend. I'll be taking the trainings easy, and easy in between to help accommodate for the racing.
Thanks for the advice!

Interesting, I was wondering about acid reflux too. In my case, there wasn't much of a cough but my throat got very sore in one place - not inflammation of the whole throat, the way it would be with a cold. I also had some laryngitis that lasted for weeks. There are meds but there are lots of things you can do to reduce the problem without meds, e.g. no food or drink within 3 hours of bedtime, raising the head of your bed (the legs of the bed, not extra pillows) etc.
